Divali -- or Deepavali -- has washed over us somewhat this year. There was a public holiday on Wednesday, but I worked. There have been lots of pretty fireworks (for observing which we are very well positioned). There have also been a fair number of insanely noisy bangers, which are not quite so welcome.

On Thursday we took in Pavilion's colourful display. Sure, it's all commercial. But really pretty nevertheless.





And our next-door neighbour (whom we've still not met) has been lighting little tea-lights. Which is nice.



Divali marks the beginning of the Hindu New Year. And Saturday was Muharram, the Muslim New Year.

Here's hoping for new beginnings...
