Little trips round Yogya -- 59 -- Pantai Drini

Our last little trip was almost a year ago... Such an extraordinary amount of stuff has happened since then...

Today, we hired a scooter (Scott IV), and set out again for the beautiful Gunung Kidul, tracing the steps (or rather wheel rotations) of an even earlier little trip.

Over the flat land, bright green and shining with new rice and bright sun, and up the steep, steep hill past that building whose function, name, and history we still don't know:

Up, up, up, to the views and the stone terraces and the teak trees.

We stopped off again at Gua Maria Tritis. This time there wasn't a service, so we were able to quietly contemplate the cave and the statues. The rattle of teak leaves in the breeze outside sounded like rain.

An excellent lunch next, at Kampoeng Baron.

Finally, Pantai Drini... Spectacularly beautiful. We strolled the beach, and then -- as you do -- plonked ourselves under a big straw umbrella with two big coconuts, to enjoy the colours and the fresh breeze.

Today's trip, at 130+ kilometres, was our record for a single day's motorbiking.
