What you need to retain (some) sanity in a manically busy week

Something beautiful. Like the hills at Semenyih. And the birds. The oo-ooo bird is back in town. In fact, he woke me up this morning. But the little guys on campus have been doing virtuoso performances all week. They lift my heart.

Something escapist. Ours is currently a Korean melodrama called That Winter, the Wind Blows. Despite the odd grammar of the title and the totally unbelievable plot, it's really very watchable. It helps that everyone is so very beautiful, and their environments are either scruffily hip or effortlessly elegant. These guys would all be at home in our first Seoul cafe:

Something tasty. From good old stalwart places that can be counted on to serve great stuff. Like the Wagon (otherwise known as Michael's bar), where we repaired on Friday evening. Its margaritas are, I'm convinced, the best in town. Or the good old Maple Leaf, where I had a really excellent masala dosa for my Saturday-is-work-day lunch.

Something weird. Just to make you smile. Like the guy who turned up outside my office, and addressed me straight off in French. No problem, but -- why? I guess he'd read my Proust post. So let's bookend the post with a fountain from my French-learning days. This one's Paris in 1988...
