Back in KL

by prudence on 21-May-2016

So busy since we returned. Marking, invigilating... No-one's favourite tasks.

Nevertheless, as always in KL, there have been plenty of consolations:

-- Enjoying Bollywood, in the surprising form of Shah Rukh Khan's Fan. Much more sombre than the genre usually represents, but still enjoyable. Shah Rukh Khan "back in his element", say the reviewers.

-- Lapping up the French Festival (for more, see here).

-- Following the ongoing saga of our local Tudi Gong (for previous installments see here and here). We now have yet another incarnation. May he last for a long, long time.

-- Observing that Chow Kit market has finally got its cover on.

-- Moon-gazing at our campus after Friday-evening invigilation.

-- Learning some Chinese (and revising some Russian). The former is an ambitious enterprise (after all, at 40 I came to terms with the fact that I probably didn't have enough life left to really master Chinese...). But every time I go to China I determine that I really should learn a little of the language. Well, our upcoming planned trip is our fourth time, and I'm going to do it... The Russian is for Mongolia, and to be honest I'm not sure it will be that useful. But it's quite fun. And it comes in handy in parts of Beijing:
