A Grand Day Out

by prudence on 24-Oct-2010
Took the bus to Woodend.

Ate a vanilla slice at Bourkies Bakehouse. I believe it is technically possible to go to Woodend without indulging in one of these wonderful delicacies, but we can't actually verify this personally.

Walked to Flint Hill for one of their very rare garden open days. Spent a glorious couple of hours enjoying lush green lawns, majestic and venerable trees, rhododendrons, azaleas, birdsong, bluebells, tulips, and much, much more. Utterly magical.

Walked back to Woodend's CBD. Fossicked in the second-hand bookshop, which turned out to have a surprisingly good selection on Southeast Asia. Departed several dollars lighter.

And finished off the day with a late lunch at Bites Deli and Larder. Yummy foccacia accompanied by a nice glass of Cravens Place Shiraz.

Cake, gardens, bookshop, and lunch with a glass of wine... I fail to imagine how a day could be nicer.
