A day out at KLCC

by prudence on 17-May-2012
KLCC -- or Kuala Lumpur City Centre -- incorporates the Petronas Towers, a concert hall, a park, a huge mall, and lots more.

On Sunday we spent pretty much the whole day there. Here's what we did:

-- Tried to take potential book-jacket photos of the guys in their bright orange construction vests doing something around the edge of the lake. (Should have worked. All the themes were there -- construction, dialogue, reflections, bridges... Didn't work -- couldn't produce anything that looked meaningful or even coherent.)

-- Watched The Cabin in the Woods. (Now there's a very strange movie... It kind of messes with your sense of what is real...)

-- Had a tarted up version of nasi lemak at the Little Penang Cafe. (I generally like my nasi lemak simple, but this was very nice, with fish, prawns, and two kinds of sambal.)

-- Went to the exhibition at the Gallery. (All about the kings of Perak -- we'd seen a lot of this already up in Kuala Kangsar, but it was still worth a quick trot round. Very yellow... Very shiny...)

-- Went to a concert by the Malaysian Philharmonic Orchestra. (Very cool. The concert hall is beautiful, and the programme -- focused around swing music -- brought together the classical orchestra and the big band. Result: a great experience.)

-- Stocked up on DVDs at Video Ezy.

-- Went to Durian Durian to buy durian sponge cakes, which we took home and ate with Greek yoghurt. (A really inspired bit of fusion, I thought.)

Good day out.
