Little trips round Yogya -- 30 -- Bumi Langit
by prudence on 15-Dec-2013Bumi Langit means earth and sky. It's a farm run on organic, permaculture principles, and it's set in the superbly picturesque Gunung Kidul, so reaching it involved another steep climb for Rufus.
It turned out that today they were holding a special event to celebrate the "Terra Madre Slow Food" movement, and there was a big group of visitors. Nevertheless, we were made very welcome, and stayed to hear the talk, sample the warm, red, gingery tea, and surround a couple of large pieces of very tasty banana cake.
Unfortunately, the weather turned rainy, so we didn't stay for the farm tour. But we did bear home (under our rainproofs) a couple of loaves: purple sweet potato bread, and sourdough bread. We ate thick slices of these for lunch with butter. Up to now our bread here has been white sliced, so this tasty, chewy, satisfying product was a real treat.
To be repeated.
