It's that time in the semester when there are never enough hours. So it's been hard to find time even for little trips.

Doubly precious, then, was today's -- to the unpretentious but gorgeous little Candi Kedulan.

Only rediscovered in 1993, it nestles in a peaceful, rural setting, and offers what looks like a giant game of Lego.

As always, the carvings were splendid.

As were the butterflies, whose pas de deux seemed to never want to end.

The ephemeral meets the eternal -- a pretty good theme for the year's first little trip.
