Things that have brightened recent days (some illustrated)
by prudence on 08-Mar-2015Continuing to love our emerging-decaying-glitzy-rundown-prosaic-spiritual confusing-but-always-wonderful part of town.
Meeting these guys in the Gombak River one Sunday morning:
Appreciating the quasi-Gothic qualities of the neighbourhood:
Eating breakfast at the local places:
Hearing the wonderful MPO and Sarah Chang, who gives her violin the richest, most beautiful sound I've ever heard, playing Dvorak's Violin Concerto, followed up by Shostakovich's Symphony No 10 (extraordinarily dark and boding -- some say it's a depiction of the Stalin period, and that would certainly make sense).
Green tea smoothies at Komugi; minty choc milkshakes at TOM; and at Salon du Chocolat, this...
Sunday lunch at the Top Hat restaurant (excellent pie tee, a sumptuous version of nasi lemak with pandan rice, and -- drumroll -- sago gula melaka; begin with a Campari soda if you want to be decadent).
Taking more pictures of building sites (this probably has huge psychological significance, but I'm not sure what).
