Raya breakfast walks

The Hari Raya festivities mean there is significantly less traffic in KL than usual. So it's good to walk.

And it's even better to walk to breakfast.

Friday: Tang City Food Court was a new discovery. It's just off Petaling Street, but was full of local customers and atmosphere when we visited for breakfast. Pork porridge for me this time, but there are lots of other options for future visits. RM 13.40 ringgit for two dishes, and two big cups of tea.

This expedition was our end-of-Ramadan walk, so there was lots to see en route.

Saturday: Yut Kee is now in a different place from the one we twice visited during our last period of Malaysian residence. The new premises are just around the corner, and bigger. But the crowds are the same, as are the food and the good value. A plate of hailam mee (with fat noodles, thick gravy, and all sorts of interesting bits), a plate of soupy ginger beef noodles, plus two kopi O kosong set us back just fractionally over RM 20, and we were full for a good, long time...

We walked on to KLCC from here, along streets we didn't know existed, with the Menara popping up in various reflections -- "surprise!" -- along the way. It turns out the big roadside barriers that are mushrooming everywhere, much to the inconvenience of bus users, are for the Kuala Lumpur City Grand Prix.

Sunday: Imbi market is famed among food bloggers, and this was only our second visit. It was disappointing, therefore, to find a lot of the best-known stalls shut. We breakfasted on pao and tea (RM 6.50), just before an almighty thunderstorm kicked in...

We took advantage of a slight lull to splash our way along to a cafe, where we consumed our kaya toast and white coffee (second breakfast) to the background of the K-Pop channel.

The old Menara, bored with yesterday's mirror-mirror-on-the-wall, was busy playing hide-and-seek today:
