My return to Korea
by prudence on 31-Dec-2015Not physically... (I wish.) But after my little affair with Japan (which really turned my head, I can tell you), I have returned to what is supposed to be a long-term relationship.
Maybe it was that visit to the Korean railway booth that flicked the switch...
Anyway, the other day I renewed my subscription to KoreanClass101.com -- fortunately just in time for their Star Wars vocabulary list. So now I know that Star Wars is Seuta Wojeu, and one of its key characters is Lukeu Seukaiwoekeo (yep, you remember the thing about transliteration...). On offer, too, was how to say "use the force", which doesn't sound quite so snappy in Korean, plus a few other indispensable phrases like "these aren't the droids you're looking for".
We've been back to Sopoong for lunch, and had chicken kalguksu (chicken noodle soup for grownups) and japchae (glass noodles stir-fried with vegetables).
And in one of those Google searches for something entirely different, I happened upon this amazing story about culinary genius and Buddhist nun Jeong Kwan.
Must visit again...
