Sweet things at Jurong Point

by prudence on 13-Apr-2010
I've already commented on Durian Mpire, a favoured purveyor of mildly smelly treats. We're also very fond of Ya Kun Kaya Toast, which, as the name suggests, serves that yummy, crispy toast liberally smeared with butter and kaya (a delectable mix of coconut, eggs, pandan, and sugar).

Almost any dessert stall in almost any food court will supply you with kacang, which is shaved ice, with various sweet bits such as little jujubes or sweet corn or beans, topped with bright, jolly syrups. (I'm not good at describing kacang -- it sounds and looks garish, but it's refreshing and delicious.) You can also readily get cendol, which has similar bits, but is topped off with coconut milk and (often) mango or durian.

Yesterday, however, we visited Ji De Chi Desserts. We had longans in almond jelly, and mango wrapped in coconut rice. We will definitely be back for more...

Now, I realize I'm a pretty inadequate food blogger, so here's someone who does it much, much better: Ji De Chi Desserts: Hits and Misses.
