KL diary: Primarily Mozart

by prudence on 23-Sep-2018

Mozart has lit up our week. On Friday we went to hear the MPO rehearsing his last three symphonies, and on Sunday we went to the performance.

Written in just two summer months in 1788, these are amazing pieces of music. It astounds me that anyone can even imagine, let alone realize, the contrapuntal intricacies of the 41st, for example.

Otherwise, it's been a low-key, work-saturated week. But, as always, there have been little points of light in the gloom.

-- We found a promising nearby cafe, The Bean Belt, which serves Indonesian Degayo coffee.

-- We tried out Betjeman & Barton, the French tea company that now has a branch at Pavilion. The tea was excellent (mine was "Les Invites", and Nigel's the "Rooibos Jardin Rouge"); the china was prettily pink and stripey; and the scones were very good (the satisfyingly dense variety, not the crumbly fluffy variety). Our only complaint was that they were a bit mean with the cream and jam.

-- We completed the indispensable snowskin phase of our annual mooncake journey, with a dragonfruit and a durian from The Renaissance (both delicious).

-- And we've done lots of night walking, one way and another. I continue to love KL's sparkly trees.
