KL diary: Old stuff, new stuff

This week contained a lot of "back to".

Back to Ola Bowls. Always a pleasure. The one above is green tea, baby spinach, banana, avocado, and soya milk, topped with pomegranate, banana, kiwi, strawberry, granola, and chia seeds. This time we also tried their juice. Pomegranate, red apple, and lemon has a gorgeous colour, and tastes fresh and clean.

Back to Dolly Dim Sum, the Nu Sentral branch this time. Squid in seafood broth, yam croquette, prawn cheong fun, and a pan-fried bun filled with a patty made of salted fish, ginger and scallion. With a Ju Bao tea, this was quite perfect.

And I revisited the whole delicious idea of the mini-tiffin breakfast that I first encountered in Delhi earlier in the year. This one was from Sangeetha in Lebuh Ampang (which we have previously drawn on for thali and sweets).

But the week has also contained a reasonable amount of new.

We investigated the rapidly unfolding new bit of Pavilion: Pavilion Elite. Quite what yet more restaurants and shops will do to the KL business scene I'm not sure. But here they are anyway.

We tried out our first speakeasy, which was fun. Lurking behind the forbidding door is a cocktail wonderland, and I was very happy to try a "festive digestive" and an old-fashioned.

New, too, was Again, a gentle Japanese drama about strained family ties and the capacity of past scandals to spread shadows into whole new generations. Shine the light and then forgive is the very sensible message. There's no promise that this will be easy, but the reward just might be another chance at happiness.

As we've never walked home from Nu Sentral in the early evening, the line of food trucks just off Dataran Merdeka was a nice surprise. Don't hesitate to pick up a coconut ice-cream...

And, in KL, there's always a new mural to find:
