Sunday morning in Petaling Jaya
by prudence on 09-Apr-2017The recipe for this is as follows:
Take the LRT to Taman Jaya.
Walk through the cute little urban park, and watch people peacefully fishing, playing, and picnicking.
Visit the Petaling Jaya Museum. This is not extensive, but walks you very effectively through PJ's creation as a satellite town in the 1950s.
From there you can cover the short distance to Wat Chetawan, a Thai-style temple officially opened by the late Thai king in 1962, when PJ was still a pretty new enterprise.
Finally, pop in at A&W, Malaysia's first drive-in fast-food joint, for a root beer float. On a hot day, this sassafras-flavoured drink, in an icy glass mug, with a little ice-cream on top, is truly a very fine thing.
