... the koi swim round in a hole in the ground ...

I know... Enough already with the song...

But today we went to Sentul. Where there is the Koi Centre. And koi -- big, sleek ones -- do swim round, out front in a beautifully landscaped pond and out back in various deep vats, where they're separated according to size. When they first come to greet you, thinking you have food, koi have the most terrifyingly extendable, mobile mouths...

Here in Sentul Park you can find the Kuala Lumpur Performing Arts Centre (we had juices in their cafe overlooking the lake), and a set of gardens (we were ordered out of these by a very polite attendant on a bicycle, who informed us that these gardens were for the pleasure of the condominium dwellers only -- ah, so that's what they meant by "patrons" at the entrance -- we thought it was for "patrons" of the arts centre and the cafe...)

This was obviously a railway/industrial area at one point, and there are still railwayesque activities going on near the station. But, as in many places, the old and industrial has been cleverly transmuted into the upmarket and artsy in the KLPAC complex. It all makes for a very interesting environment.

We trained back to Brickfields, a very historic area near KL Sentral. This is actually a much more convincing Little India than the "official" Little India just north of Pasar Seni. We had a great lunch in one of the places there. Banana-leaf curry, onion and chilli utappam, and salty lassis.

Bussed home. Good day.
