Nostalgia...

It's our last full day in Malaysia. Which is very, very sad.
After spending the days since our return from Taiwan in the small amount of territory between the hotel, the storage place, and the Indonesian embassy, we felt, by Saturday evening, that it was time for a break-out.
So we took one last trip to KLCC, probably the non-local mall we most frequented. The atrium display was featuring the Formula 1 event that will happen next weekend, when we will have gone. We had coffee and dessert at Harrods cafe (you certainly pay for that elegant "H" on your plate, but my white chocolate cherry cheesecake was a very fine piece of work).
This morning we walked round the Padang (looking beautiful in the clear, morning light), and over to the old station (featured in so many of our journeys near and far). Down Petaling Street, around Central Market. Collected some rupiah on the way. Had our last three-layer tea (so recently discovered, but now such a favourite -- I find the best way to drink them is to have an initial suck at the bottom layer, to get that incomparable gula Melaka rush, and then mix).
A guy near the market was trying to drum up passengers for his bus to Klang. "Klang, Klang, Klang." Klang...
Nasi kandar near the hotel for lunch.
And, after an afternoon of packing, weighing, and throwing, we sat in the decidedly uncosy hotel bar, spending our food and beverage tokens. I had margaritas. Very symbolic, margaritas. Sour, salty, but always sunny.
There have been so many departures from Malaysia recently, and we've always come back. But now we're really going. Not far, it's true. But we are leaving. And it's sad, really sad.
On the other hand, a whole new chapter is about to begin...
