KL diary: Japan and a hint of Brazil

Another work-filled week... And another week plagued by stuff not working. You know how you hit periods like this from time to time? Well, we're seemingly glued into one at the moment. The cause of the irritations is generally a) someone's software; b) some bureaucratic idiocy; or c) a combination of the two. It's hard to be patient, and rise above it all.

Meanwhile, Ramadan continues. The decorations have finally gone up at our condo. As it's currently hot, hot, hot, those who are fasting have my heartiest admiration.

We lunched one day at Aragan Yokocho, a large Japanese restaurant that's fairly recently taken up residence at Quill. The place combines a variety of styles of Japanese cuisine, and a number of seasonally themed dining areas.

The tablet ordering system was a tad slow and awkward, but the food was nice (mine was chicken teriyaki with bean-sprouts). Definitely worth trying again. Quill is not the easiest environment for restaurants, and we've seen many come and go, so I hope it hangs on in there.

The Japanese theme continued with a colleague's leaving do at the omakase-style speakeasy we'd visited in March.

The taste of Brazil came from the Pacoquita we got to try this week, courtesy of a Brazilian student. This is a crumbly peanut-butter sweet, and it's quite delicious.

Heaven knows we need a little sweetness at the moment...
