Singapore evening

by prudence on 29-Feb-2012
After just over a week back in Malaysia, here we are again. But only briefly. We're en route to Indonesia.

We've just come back from an evening stroll through Fort Canning Park. Delightful. Wonderful old trees, festooned with all manner of epiphytes. Historic monuments by the bucketful. All set off by the velvety blue sky of the early tropical evening, when dusk fades into dark.

The Fort Canning Centre (once a British army barracks, and now home to the Singapore Dance Theatre) is a splendid old place, flanked by green lawns. As we approached, the air was thick with the scent of pandan, and a lone piano was spilling ragtime into the warm darkness.

Finished off the evening in Kopitiam with dumplings and starfruit juice.

A serendipitously simple and satisfying evening...
